Problem: Mrs. Woods’s hours at work became unsteady as her employer's business slowed down. Unfortunately, Mrs. Woods also had to miss work to help care for her mother who was diagnosed with cancer. Mr Woods was self employed as a landscaper but business began to slow down.
How AFS Helped: AFS assisted the Woods family with one month’s rent.

Problem: Ms. Hart had to stay with various relatives while seeking a residence for herself and her sons.
How AFS Helped: Ms. Hart agreed to work with a budget set up by an AFS case manager. She worked double shifts while continuing to look for better employment. She was able to locate a rental property and AFS helped her with a deposit and two months rental assistance. AFS also linked Ms. Hart with Louisiana Spirit to assist with counseling her two sons. The agency also provided Ms. Hart with clothing and household items to facilitate the move to her new housing location.
